Easter

Happy Easter!  The Lord Jesus is Risen! God’s love for us, through His beloved Son, has again shown in our world and individual lives. We now enter this Easter Season with joy and confidence in that love.

During these next fifty days we will journey in this Easter Season listening to the Gospel of St. John. St. John’s Gospel, written much later than our Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke) is heavily influenced by the Greek “Gnostic” tradition (Wisdom) and often referred to as a representation of a “High Christology”:  “In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God. Through him all things came to be, not one thing had its being but through him All that came to be had life in him and that life was the light of men, a light that shines in the dark, a light that darkness could not overpower.”  (Prologue: The Gospel According to St. John)

Following forty days, we celebrate the Glorious Ascension of our Lord then on the fiftieth day, the Promised Holy Spirit at Pentecost. As we continue on our Easter Journey, let us faithfully pray that by our Lenten observance, we remain refreshed by our Lord’s life giving Resurrection as we await His promised pouring forth of the Spirit; the same Spirit that was breathed into us at the foundation of the world.

God Bless You,
Fr. John
