Our P.R.E.P. Sacrament Classes (First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation) include ALL our parish children and will take place on Sunday for about 8 weeks each.
The Sacrament of First Reconciliation is celebrated by ALL parish children, baptized before the age of 7 and who have completed the prior year of PREP or Catholic School attendance. Our volunteer teachers are very well versed in the sacrament and have a deep love of God and the children. The children are taught the Act of Contrition and tour the Reconciliation Room prior to celebrating the Sacrament. Classes are held on Sunday mornings and begin in October from 10:30AM – 11:45AM. The Sacrament of First Reconciliation is celebrated prior to the celebration of First Holy Communion.
The Sacrament of First Holy Communion is celebrated by ALL parish children who have completed and celebrated First Reconciliation. The children retain the same teachers they had for First Reconciliation. Our volunteer teachers have a great devotion to the Eucharist and are anxious to share their love of Jesus with the children. The session begins in February and culminates with a parent/child retreat day. The Sacrament of First Holy Communion is celebrated during our weekend liturgies during the Easter season.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated for 8th+ grades with the understanding that the candidates have normally completed their full eight years of PREP prior to enrollment in the Confirmation Sacrament program. Our volunteer teachers have a love of high school students and enjoy sharing the Gifts of the Holy Spirit with them. Classes, including a weekend retreat, meet for eight weeks beginning in October on Sundays. The date for Confirmation is determined each year by the Bishop’s office.
