“Would that all the people of the LORD were prophets!”
Numbers 11:29

In both our first reading and the gospel this weekend we find the disciples of Moses and the disciples of Jesus are upset. There is an air of jealousy because they see others doing what they themselves have been called to do. Both Jesus and Moses remind us that we are called to be a prophetic people! Is important for us to recognize the Lord guides us, inspires us, and send us into the world to proclaim his truth and love. We are called to proclaim the gospel and nothing less! Neither Jesus nor Moses said to their disciples stay over there keep quiet and do your business don’t worry about everybody else. No, they encouraged their disciples to go out to all the world and proclaim the good news, to be prophets in the midst of the people calling them back to God! Indeed, “Would that all the people of the LORD were prophets!” Num. 11:29 What a different world it would be! May we as a community be the prophets The Lord calls us to be proclaiming to others the mercy and love of the Lord and inviting all to know the glory of God!
